You may have to provide Administrator permissions to change this. If you fancy you can also select the Gold Chrome icon. Now you can select the icon and click 'ok' on both windows. If you get an error message "Windows can't find the file "%ProgramFiles%\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe", click ok and change the text in the Look for icons in this file: section to "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" (without quotes) and hit enter (not Browse).Click on the Shortcut Tab and Click on Change Icon.Use the mouse, click on the icon and hold the left. Right click on the Google Chrome Shortcut and open Properties Click the multi colored icon in the left hand corner, used to be Start Scroll to locate the Google icon. You can also get to it through "%ProgramData%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Google Chrome" This takes you to the location of the Chrome shortcut. Right click on the Start Menu tile select 'More' and select 'Open File Location'.Rename or delete the '' file located in the "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Google\Chrome\Application" folder (I would recommend renaming it as '-bk').However I found a solution which worked for me in combination with the above answer.
